Thierry Henry’s version of the French U21 national team started Thursday night with an impressive 4-1 victory against Denmark.

The captain for the match was Warren Zaïre-Emery, despite being only 17 years old. Warren Zaïre-Emery is already an essential figure, both at PSG and with the national team.

Thierry Henry has justified his choice of making Warren Zaïre-Emery the captain, saying, “I wanted to see if he was ready to be a captain. Warren gave me many positive answers, both in the locker room and on the field. One might say it’s early for him to be a starter for the U21s or at PSG, it’s early for him to be a captain for the U21s… I have no problem with that.”

“We all know what he can do with his feet. I wanted to see what he had inside him, and he responded well,” said the coach of the French U21 national team during a press conference.
