Kimmich confirmed the scale of PSG’s pursuit. At the time, the German international was going through a difficult period with Bayern, and his future at the club appeared highly uncertain. A contract extension seemed almost impossible, as the player himself admitted he was “95% sure” he would not renew his deal.

PSG’s Strong Push for Kimmich

The midfielder explained that he felt Bayern were prepared to let him leave. “I had the impression that Bayern were completely willing to let me go,” Kimmich said. PSG quickly seized the opportunity, with sporting advisor Luis Campos and head coach Luis Enrique personally involved in convincing him to join the French champions.

Kimmich was particularly impressed by the project presented to him. Paris did not simply want another star player but viewed him as one of the future leaders of the squad. “I was supposed to be an important piece of the puzzle there, as a more experienced player. It really made me think,” he admitted.

PSG also offered an extraordinary financial package. “Paris made me an offer. Financially, it was incredible. Really. Very, very incredible,” Kimmich revealed. Despite the lucrative proposal and PSG’s persistence, he ultimately decided to remain at Bayern for both sporting and family reasons. Nevertheless, his comments confirm that PSG came extremely close to completing one of the biggest signings of their transfer window, with Luis Enrique clearly seeing Kimmich as a future cornerstone of the team.
