The Maghnes Akliouche saga has been reignited. After turning down a move to Paris Saint-Germain last summer by extending his contract with AS Monaco until 2028, the attacking midfielder now appears to have a genuine opportunity to leave the club.
According to reports from Le Journal du Dimanche, a Monaco executive has confirmed that France U21 international Maghnes Akliouche will be allowed to leave the Principality during this summer transfer window. The decision is expected to attract interest from several top European clubs.
PSG and Liverpool Lead the Race
Among the most determined suitors are PSG and Liverpool. The European champions have been monitoring the situation for months and are particularly impressed by the 24-year-old’s versatility, as he can operate both on the wing and in a more central attacking role.
Monaco, however, have no intention of selling their star player cheaply. Club officials are hoping to receive a significant offer for one of their standout performers, who enjoyed an impressive season in Ligue 1 and European competition. Last summer, Monaco valued him between €70 million and €80 million, a price PSG considered too high at the time.
One year later, the opportunity appears more attractive for the Parisian club. Luis Enrique values versatile and creative players, while PSG’s management remains eager to strengthen the French core of the squad. Whether Paris decides to make a formal move or Liverpool gains the upper hand remains to be seen.
