Paris Saint-Germain are set to lose one of their promising young talents. As expected for several months, Mathis Jangeal will not continue his journey in the French capital and is preparing to move to Portugal to begin his professional career with a relatively modest club.
According to Le Parisien, an agreement has been reached between Mathis Jangeal and Famalicão. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to sign his first professional contract with the Portuguese side in the coming days after the club finished fifth in last season’s league standings.
Why Jangeal Chose Portugal
Developed through PSG’s academy, Jangeal was approaching the end of his youth contract and had to decide on his next destination. Parisian officials had spent several months trying to convince him to stay, offering him a contract extension, but were ultimately unable to secure his commitment.
Despite PSG’s efforts, the young prospect opted for a move abroad, believing it would provide a more favorable sporting project for his development. Famalicão has built a strong reputation for nurturing young players and is often viewed as a stepping stone toward Europe’s biggest leagues.
His departure adds to the growing list of academy players who have left PSG in recent months. While the French champions hoped to retain Mathis Jangeal, the midfielder has chosen a new challenge in Portugal as he looks to launch his career at the highest level.
