Olympique de Marseille have secured their latest gem. Adam El Boughlamy, an 18-year-old midfielder whose trainee contract with Montpellier is coming to an end, is set to join the Marseille club despite a late push from PSG.
PSG tried, but OM won. According to Foot Mercato, the young Franco-Moroccan had already reached an agreement in principle with Marseille to sign a professional trainee contract. The deal had looked wrapped up for several weeks.

But Paris attempted to turn the situation around in the final hours. PSG reportedly launched a last-minute offensive to convince the player to join their project, but without success.
According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Adam El Boughlamy ultimately stuck with his initial choice and will indeed join Marseille. It is a fine move for OM, who have beaten their great rival to a player considered a promising prospect.
For PSG, it is a last-gasp failure in the battle for young French talents, an area where the competition with Marseille looks set to become more intense than ever.
