Mahamadou Sangaré’s English adventure may already be coming to an end. Just one year after leaving Paris Saint-Germain to join Manchester City, the young striker could be heading back to France during this summer’s transfer window.
Like many PSG academy graduates, Sangaré chose to seek opportunities elsewhere after finding no clear path to the first team. Regarded as one of the brightest talents to emerge from the Parisian academy, the Franco-Malian forward left PSG in the summer of 2025 to join Manchester City, hoping to take the next step in his development and move closer to the highest level of the game.
Possible Return to Ligue 1
Despite posting impressive numbers with Manchester City’s U21 side, scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances, the 19-year-old striker was unable to convince Pep Guardiola to hand him a first-team opportunity. As a result, the English club is now considering allowing him to leave.
According to information confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on Thursday, Manchester City has no intention of keeping Sangaré this summer. Several exit routes are already being explored for the former PSG prospect.
While clubs in Germany are also monitoring his situation, Ligue 1 currently appears to be the most likely destination. According to Jeunes Footeux, FC Lorient and Le Mans FC have already made inquiries, while a loan move to ES Troyes AC, another club within the City Football Group, remains a serious possibility. After scoring 42 goals in 46 matches for PSG’s U19 team before his departure, Sangaré now hopes to revive his progress and fulfill the immense promise he showed in Paris.
