Without a club since the end of his contract with Torpedo Kutaisi last June, the former central defender of PSG and ex-French international (29 caps, 2 goals) chose the Parc des Princes to make this decision public: Mamadou Sakho (35 years old) has officially announced that he is ending his career.
Just before the Coupe de France match between Paris Saint-Germain and Paris FC (0-1) this Monday, Mamadou Sakho announced the end of his career. “It’s a great pleasure to return to my garden with an exceptional audience. The pitch is still beautiful. I have very good memories here. I wanted to introduce you to my mother. Without her, the story would have been different.”
“Thank you to Paris FC. Without Paris FC, there is no PSG behind for me.”
“Big up to all the mothers in the world. My brother, the children, the cousins. Haïda, the little girl I held in my arms when I left PSG, has become a little woman. I wanted to thank everyone. I wanted to announce my official retirement. Thank you to the Parc. Thank you to Paris FC. Without Paris FC, there is no PSG behind for me,” declared the former Parisian.
Having also played for Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and Montpellier, Mamadou Sakho leaves behind a fine record with PSG, including one Ligue 1 title (2013), one Coupe de France (2010), one Coupe de la Ligue (2008), and one Trophée des Champions (2013).
