PSG-Arsenal (1-1, 5-4 pens): A Second Champions League Title for PSG!

Paris Saint-Germain are once again on top of Europe. After a nerve-racking final against Arsenal in Budapest, Luis Enrique’s men secured the second UEFA Champions League title in the club’s history following a dramatic penalty shootout.

Historic! But this one was even harder than the first. Trailing as early as the 6th minute after a goal from Kai Havertz, PSG struggled for long periods against Arsenal’s compact defensive block before finding a way back thanks to Ousmane Dembélé.

PSG Triumph After a Dramatic Battle

For more than an hour, PSG dominated possession without managing to break through Arsenal’s defensive wall. The Gunners executed their game plan perfectly, allowing the Parisians to keep the ball while closing every available space. Despite several attempts from Fabian Ruiz, Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the London side held firm.

The turning point arrived in the 62nd minute. Released into the penalty area after combining with Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia was brought down by Mosquera. The referee immediately pointed to the spot. Dembélé stepped up and calmly converted the penalty with a powerful strike, bringing PSG level and completely changing the momentum of the final.

The final half-hour was played at a frantic pace. Kvaratskhelia struck the post, Bradley Barcola missed two huge chances against David Raya, while Vitinha saw a curling effort narrowly miss the top corner. Neither side, however, managed to find a winner in normal time.

Extra time turned into a physical and mental battle. Both teams dug deep into their remaining energy reserves. Matvey Safonov continued to reassure his teammates, while Marquinhos and Willian Pacho produced several crucial defensive interventions. Dembélé and Vitinha eventually left the field exhausted and struggling physically.

In the end, the Champions League trophy was decided from the penalty spot. Gonçalo Ramos, Désiré Doué, Achraf Hakimi and Lucas Beraldo all converted for PSG. Arsenal cracked under the pressure at the worst possible moment. Mentally stronger when it mattered most, Paris finally sparked scenes of joy among their supporters and lifted the biggest trophy in European football once again.
