Paris Saint-Germain players are once again expected to play a major role in Didier Deschamps’ lineup against Iraq on Monday evening (11 p.m.) in France’s second group-stage match of the 2026 World Cup. One of the biggest changes could involve Bradley Barcola.
After making a strong impact off the bench and scoring against Senegal in a 3-1 victory, the Paris winger is set to be rewarded with a place in the starting XI. According to L’Équipe, Barcola is expected to start on the left side of France’s attack, replacing fellow PSG player Désiré Doué.
Barcola Set for a Starting Role
This switch would represent Didier Deschamps’ main attacking adjustment. The France manager is expected to keep faith with Michael Olise as the playmaker behind Kylian Mbappé, while Ousmane Dembélé would continue on the right wing.
With Barcola starting and Dembélé retaining his place, PSG would remain heavily represented in France’s attacking unit. Despite his impressive performances for Paris in recent months, Désiré Doué is expected to begin on the bench and wait for his opportunity later in the match. Fellow PSG players Lucas Hernandez and Warren Zaïre-Emery are also likely to be substitutes.
France’s probable lineup is: Maignan – Koundé, Upamecano, Saliba, Digne – Rabiot, Koné – Dembélé, Olise, Barcola – Mbappé (captain). It will be another opportunity for the Paris players to shine in the blue jersey and continue the excellent form they have shown throughout the season.
