The numbers are starting to soar around the France team. After their clear 3-0 win over Sweden in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, Les Bleus are no longer seen merely as title contenders: they are becoming the big favorites in statistical models.
On the pitch, France are moving forward with impressive control. Top of their group with three wins, 10 goals scored and only 2 conceded, Didier Deschamps’ side sent another strong message against Sweden. Solid at the back and clinical up front, they look to be hitting top form at exactly the right time.
Opta Backs France to Go Very Far
According to Opta’s latest projections, France’s chances of winning the World Cup have now risen above 30%. The supercomputer also estimates at 45.71% the probability of seeing Les Bleus play the final on July 19 in New York. Football Meets Data is also very optimistic, giving France more than a 40% chance of reaching the final.
The next obstacle is Paraguay. On paper, France are heavy favorites, with an 85.54% chance of qualification according to Opta. But Didier Deschamps is obviously refusing to fall into the trap of euphoria. Paraguay knocked out Germany, defend hard, fight for everything, and have not reached this stage by chance.
Les Bleus therefore have the statistics on their side, but the coach knows it well: a World Cup is not won on a computer. Favorites, yes. Champions already, very far from it.
