During the summer of 2021, Lionel Messi hadn’t foreseen that he would leave FC Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.
In a press conference held on Thursday with Inter Miami, Lionel Messi reiterated what many had thought: he didn’t want to play for PSG. This comes just a few weeks after the conclusion of his mixed two-year journey in the French capital.
“As I said at the time, my move to Paris was not something I wished for. I didn’t want to leave Barcelona. It happened overnight,” he stated in Miami.
“I had to get used to a completely different place from where I had lived my whole life,” he added. “Both in terms of the city and in terms of sports. It was tough, but it’s the opposite of what’s happening to me today.”
