PSG paid tribute to Marquinhos, the captain who becomes the most capped player in the club’s history.

After Paris Saint-Germain’s clear victory against Olympique Lyonnais (4-1) in Ligue 1 this Sunday, captain Marquinhos (29 years old, 19 appearances in Ligue 1 this season) was celebrated. With 438 matches under his belt, the central defender is now the player who has worn the PSG jersey the most, and to mark this achievement, the Brazilian spoke in front of the Parc des Princes stands.

“It’s incredible, it’s an evening filled with emotions. I arrived at 19, and today it’s my greatest pride to wear this trophy (of being the most capped player at PSG, Editor’s note). I wanted to thank the president, the person who trusted me from day one, the teammates I’ve been with, the coaches, the staff. Also, thanks to Jean-Marc Pilorget (the previous record holder, Editor’s note).”

“To be captain is an honor and entering history is a great pride for me. The supporters are magnificent: I have never cheated, never given up, and the pride and honor of wearing this shirt have always been there. The supporters know it. One last thing: we have the end of the season ahead of us. We will go for the title, the Coupe de France, and the Champions League. Thank you to all of you who are here, and on the field, we will give it our all,” Marquinhos delivered in his speech.

For the occasion, Marquinhos received a trophy and took a few steps in the stadium to greet the present supporters.
