FC Barcelona made a move for Xavi Simons, but PSG has already given its answer.

Xavi Simons, the Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder, has stood out this season during his loan spell at RB Leipzig, attracting interest from FC Barcelona for the upcoming summer. However, the French champions have been categorical with the Dutch player.

According to the Catalan daily Sport published this Sunday, FC Barcelona, on the recommendation of coach Xavi, has added the name of the 21-year-old talent to its list of priorities. Yet, this deal seems currently out of reach. Barcelona officials inquired about Simons’ situation in Paris and were quickly informed: PSG coach Luis Enrique does not intend to part ways with the player, who is part of his plans for the 2024-2025 season.

With Kylian Mbappé’s imminent departure, whose contract ends in June, the Spanish coach plans to integrate Xavi Simons into his squad. Under contract with PSG until June 2027, the player could become one of the club’s key figures next season.
