Before the next meeting of PSG, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia attended a press conference. Positioning, Ligue 1, youth from the academy, Hakimi, Marquinhos, personal progress… The forward provided a broad overview, balancing clarity and ambition.
First asked about his positioning, Kvaratskhelia reiterated his preference while emphasizing his versatility. “Everyone knows that I like to play on the left. But in football, you have to be able to change. It’s good to be able to play on the left or the right.” He continued on the level of Ligue 1, which has already made an impression on him. “I can say that this league is tough. Every team gives their all against you. I think it’s one of the best in the top 5.”
Against PSG, he knows that Kolo Muani will need to be watched closely. “We know him. He’s a very good player, very dangerous in attack. He has shown that he deserves to be there. We need to be attentive with him and try to stop him.” Kvaratskhelia also expressed his admiration for the young players from Paris, praising their maturity. “These young players are incredible; they work very hard. Sometimes, we don’t realize they are only 16 or 17 years old. They continue to work after training. It’s great; it’s a super academy. They will be great players in the future.”
Regarding Hakimi’s absence, he acknowledged the challenge of replacing him. “It’s complicated to replace Achraf; he was one of the best players last season. He deserves to be the African Ballon d’Or. The coach has tried a few solutions without him; I hope he returns soon. He’s a fabulous player, a great person.” He also took the opportunity to praise Marquinhos, an exemplary captain. “A true leader, a great person. Every day, every training session, he boosts us. Staying consistent is the hardest thing in football. He’s a good captain for that.”
“We had a long season; we didn’t have much rest”
On his physical condition, Kvaratskhelia wanted to reassure everyone after a demanding season. “We had a long season; we didn’t have much rest. It’s not easy to come back physically, but we are totally ready. I feel very good right now.”
The player also assured that he has made significant defensive progress, thanks to Luis Enrique. “I wasn’t like this before; I focused on attack. But I realized that every forward must help the defense. I have improved thanks to the coach; I give my all, I am at 100%.” And on his areas for improvement, he remains humble. “There are many aspects where I can improve. I could score more and assist more. I try to be the best version of myself.”
Finally, he did not hide his admiration for Joao Neves, the current top scorer for Paris. “He’s one of the best players on the team. It doesn’t matter who scores; we just want to win.” In conclusion, the forward summarized the mindset that will drive his team. “It was a tough match against Bayern. We have a second opportunity to bounce back; we must do everything to win.”
