PSG have officially turned a page with Mathis Jangeal. The 18-year-old midfielder, developed at the club, has left Paris to join Famalicão in Portugal. It is an important decision for a player whose contract was due to expire in June 2026.
Faced with that situation, there were two options: extend his adventure in the capital or try a fresh start elsewhere. Mathis Jangeal ultimately chose to leave PSG in search of playing time and a real opportunity to progress in the Portuguese league.
PSG Have Protected the Jangeal Deal
But Paris are not completely letting go of their homegrown talent. According to Le Parisien, the capital club have kept a buy-back priority on Mathis Jangeal, in a deal that recalls the one previously arranged with Xavi Simons. In other words, if the player shines at Famalicão, PSG will have the chance to move first to bring him back.

The Parisian club also negotiated a sell-on clause estimated at 30%. It is a smart way of not losing full control over a player developed at the PSG Campus, while still allowing him to continue his progress elsewhere.
For Mathis Jangeal, this departure therefore looks like a real opportunity. For PSG, it is also a calculated gamble: letting a young talent go, while keeping the door open if he explodes. The message is clear: Paris did not hold him back, but they have not forgotten him.
