Paris Saint-Germain could make a huge move in the goalkeeper position. After delivering an outstanding performance with Portugal against Croatia, Diogo Costa is once again being heavily linked with the French capital.
Safonov as starter, Chevalier as number two next season at PSG? Not so fast… Diogo Costa could be the club’s marquee signing of the summer. The FC Porto goalkeeper is reportedly getting closer to PSG. According to Portuguese football specialist Gary De Jesus, talks are already advanced between the Portuguese international and the two-time European champions.
Advanced Talks and a Clear Release Clause
“Diogo Costa, you might see him very soon. There are advanced contacts with Paris Saint-Germain. He extended his contract last December with Porto to lower his release clause. It is now set at €60 million,” he explained.
Under contract with FC Porto until 2030, Diogo Costa will not be easy to sign. However, his €60 million release clause provides a clear framework for negotiations. For PSG, the fee remains significant but not out of reach.
Diogo Costa already boasts a proven profile at the highest level. A Portugal international used to major European fixtures and reliable under pressure, he ticks many boxes for a club aiming to stay at the top. His potential arrival could shake up the goalkeeping hierarchy in Paris, raising questions about the future roles of Matvei Safonov and Lucas Chevalier. PSG appears to be seriously considering a major move between the posts, with the final decision now resting with Luis Enrique and the club’s management.
