João Félix, on loan to FC Barcelona from Atlético Madrid, had to make a significant financial sacrifice to fulfill his childhood dream of joining the Catalan club.

According to A Bola, João Félix would have given up nearly 17 million euros in total, while an initial amount of six million euros had been rumored.

Atlético Madrid covered Félix’s salary until August, while FC Barcelona will pay him a total of 400,000 euros until the end of the season.

João Félix was earning 6 million euros per year previously, so he will lose 5 million euros for this season alone. At the same time, Atlético demanded that Félix extend his contract for an additional four years, keeping him at the club until 2028, while accepting a 50% reduction in his salary. Thus, instead of earning 24 million euros until 2028, João Félix will only receive 12 million euros.
