Luis Enrique has brought his loyal team to PSG. Among the staff are collaborators who have followed him at Barcelona or with the Spanish national team. And one of them has a very particular role: Joaquin Valdés is Luis Enrique’s psychologist.
This trained psychologist has been by the Spaniard’s side since the beginning of his coaching career.
According to Le Parisien, Valdés’ role is to provide “emotional support to his coach while leveraging his non-sport expertise in group management. He can also provide his expertise to players to help them overcome their difficulties.”
And PSG needs it: since 2017 and the remontada, there has been a real drama playing out every season in the Champions League. Some have never recovered from it… By recruiting Luis Enrique, the club aimed to solve several problems simultaneously: managing an eccentric coach and a wounded group… over and over again.
