Antonio Rüdiger reportedly wished to join PSG. He discusses his regrets with Goal.com.
It was almost a done deal for Antonio Rüdiger to join PSG. The sturdy German defender wanted to join the Parisian club in 2020, particularly to reunite with Thomas Tuchel, his favorite coach. However, the deal ultimately fell through for various reasons.
“I wanted to go to PSG with Thomas Tuchel, that was my wish. But it didn’t happen, and 6 months later, Tuchel came to Chelsea. Then we won the Champions League together. That’s probably how it was meant to be,” said the German defender to Goal.
Since then, Thomas Tuchel has been sacked from Chelsea, and Antonio Rüdiger has joined Real Madrid. In a few months, he will welcome a certain Kylian Mbappé.
