Rodri may have been nothing more than a market opportunity briefly explored by Paris Saint-Germain. Linked with the French champions in recent hours, the Manchester City midfielder now appears to be heading toward Real Madrid.
Rodri to PSG, a dream already over? Contrary to initial reports, Paris may not have initiated the contact. According to PSG Inside Actus, Rodri, his agent and his representatives directly approached the Parisian management to gauge the club’s potential interest.
Rodri Was Offered to Paris Saint-Germain
The Ligue 1 champions were therefore reportedly only informed of the player’s potential availability, without launching a genuine move. Making enquiries about a midfielder of his calibre was logical, but the discussions are not expected to lead to concrete negotiations. Signing another midfielder is not a priority for Luis Enrique this summer, as PSG believe they already have sufficient options in that area.

The opportunity now appears destined for Real Madrid. According to David Ornstein, the Spanish giants have reached an agreement with Rodri over a four-year contract, with an option for an additional season. The transfer is reportedly valued at €80 million, with Real Madrid and Manchester City now working on the final structure of the deal.
Rodri has reportedly already approved a move to Madrid, his preferred destination. Unless there is a major late twist, PSG’s interest has therefore cooled considerably. Manchester City could now turn to Lille’s young midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi as a potential long-term successor to the Spain international.
