Mbappé congratulated PSG’s France internationals in his own unique way. Speaking to M6, the captain of Les Bleus joked that he was happy to see the Paris players arrive at the national team camp with smiles on their faces rather than having to deal with their disappointment ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Mbappé Jokes About PSG’s Champions League Triumph

“PSG had to win,” Mbappé said, referring to Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembélé. According to him, the positive momentum created by the Parisian club makes integration and team spirit much easier within the French national squad.

“It was important. Sorry for William (Saliba) because he was alone, while they were five. It’s easier to comfort one player than five. For the World Cup, it’s better to get one player back on track than five! PSG had to win so we wouldn’t have to play psychologists with too many players. It’s great. They’re riding a fantastic wave, and it’s always easier to settle into a group when people are happy,” the French forward explained on M6.

While PSG have finally lifted the long-awaited trophy, Mbappé will still have to wait to achieve the same dream with Real Madrid. Despite his departure, the former Paris star has made no secret of his satisfaction at seeing his old club succeed at the highest level of European football.
