PSG deployed a B team against Clermont on Saturday in Ligue 1, and the president of Havre didn’t take kindly to it.

Although not the opponent of the night, he still expressed his frustration. President of Havre, Jean-Michel Roussier, didn’t appreciate Luis Enrique fielding a B team against Clermont, who are at the bottom of the league. Havre is only seven points ahead of Clermont but is dangerously close to the first relegation spot.

“It’s an absolute lack of respect for the French championship, there’s nothing more to add,” said the Havre president to RMC Sport. “I just compare it with the lineup of Manchester City (against Crystal Palace) and Arsenal (against Brighton) tonight, while both clubs play in the Champions League on Tuesday and Paris plays on Wednesday… look at the lineups and you’ll see why the English league shines economically, and regularly wins the Champions League… If we ask the question, we have the answer.”

“We are in a league with Clermont, Metz, Lorient, Nantes. All these teams that played against Paris didn’t have the incredible chance of facing the B or C team. Paris does what they want, it’s their freedom to play whoever they want to play. I sent a message to the League to congratulate them on respecting fairness. It’s just a reaction. I don’t regret it at all because it’s what I think. And good for Clermont because I have a lot of friendship for the Clermont president and good for them. But at some point, fairness must come into consideration.”
