When Neymar left Barcelona in the middle of the summer of 2017, the Spanish club quickly sought a replacement for him. Javier Bordas confirmed that he had discussions with Wilfried Mbappé, Kylian’s father. It appeared that Kylian was close to signing as he even visited Barcelona.
However, the idea did not gain unanimous support internally, and the sports management ultimately opted for Ousmane Dembélé.
