PSG easily secured a 4-1 victory against Lyon, culminating in an enjoyable match. PSG coach Luis Enrique discusses the progress of his team.

Goals, gameplay, style… PSG found their rhythm Sunday night against Lyon. And Luis Enrique is pleased with the performance. “Today, matches after the Champions League are always tough, but the energy felt before the match and among the supporters was different. We lived up to that energy even though the opponent was strong. We had a magnificent first half; I am very happy. It’s a great week for all of us, and we’re enjoying it.”

For the PSG coach, this team is only just beginning to form. “I believe we are at the beginning of a project, it’s truly the start. Just because one or two matches haven’t been as good doesn’t mean things are called into question. A growth curve is never exponential; there are ups and downs. I had no doubt that we would be better at this point in the season.”

“We are controlling games better, defending with the ball. We must continue to work, with the quality of players I have, we must think big. I really liked the match. We adapt to what the opponent offers. If they press, we must take advantage of the spaces, seek out the openings. We are identifying situations better and better, controlling the matches.”

“We will arrive at the decisive moment of the season in ideal conditions; we have a large squad with quality players,” he concluded.
